Inspi(RED)

I know, two posts in one day! Impressive! I had to post again because I was inspired this week. First go here and watch the YouTube video. We watched this on Tuesday night with our small group from church (which our church calls "Housechurch". We believe the church doesn't just happen on Sunday morning, but throughout the week in our daily lives as evidenced by the way we treat others, respond to how Jesus wants us to live, etc. Thus the term "housechurch" because we gather typically in someone's home to talk, learn, ponder more about Jesus and His calling for us.) I was inspired by this video because it demonstrates a way for the people of Africa to gather clean water just by "playing" on a merry-go-round. And, it's inspiring because it puts the work into the hands of the people of the country rather than Americans or someone else going over and doing the work for them. This helps them learn to create more ways to get clean water once a missionary team leaves the area. The people are left with something practical and not just a building that someone else built. There's a great article about this topic here. This is what inspires our housechurch group, which is named Injera. I don't remember what Injera stands for, but I do know I've eaten some. It's the bread that Ethiopians use to eat their food and it tasts pretty darn good. Anyway, our group is planning a trip to Africa in the summer of 2009 and our plan is to provide something to the people that will be beneficial and that they can carry on on their own once we are no longer there. We don't want to go over and just build a building, we want to give them something sustainable that they can continue on their own, such as the playpump or something equally as important and sustainable by the people. So, I was inspired by all of this information and thought I would share. Also, Mira is wearing her cute onsie that says "Treasu(Red)" today...very cute.

Beautiful pictures! You are such a beautiful family ;)

This post summed up Tuesday brilliantly. I can't wait until we figure out as a group what we'll be doing. God is so AWESOME!

Picasa!!! Yippee! I've never posted directly from Picasa b/c I didn't even know you could do that. I just have my pictures backed up on my computer and insert them from there. Maybe you wouldn't have to do so many posts?? - but I'm not sure since I'm so new to the blogspot life. Way to go anyway. I love the pictures!
