New Happings

Mira is sleeping in her big girl bed!  She also loves to say "big girl bed" (while jumping on it, of course).  We moved her to the tiny toddler bed this weekend and she is doing GREAT!  I was nervous she would get out of her bed when she is supposed to be napping, but so far she stays put until we go in to get her.  It's a relief because I was so worried she would get up without me knowing and do something creative like pick up her brother without me noticing.  Scary thought!

Mira has settled down her attention-getting behaviors and is now completely patient when I feed Isaiah.  I am SO thankful.  She is such a sweet girl/big sister and is always bringing me Isaiah's pacifier when he's fussy.  It's pretty darn cute.  I don't have the heart to tell her he's pretty much over the paci.  He's taken it a few times, but for the most part would prefer to have nothing to do with it...which I am COMPLETELY cool with!

Isaiah has an ultrasound scheduled for Wednesday on his spine.  At his two week check-up the doctor pointed out an extra crease on his cute little butt crack.  (Am I really talking about butt-cracks on my blog??  One day my son will be oh-so-excited about that).  Anyway, she said a small percentage of babies who have that extra crease have a "tethered cord", which means the spinal cord is connected to something (I'm not sure what).  She said it's completely treatable if caught early, and an ultrasound is performed to diagnose.  Please pray he does not have a tethered cord (by the way, I really hate that term right about now).  It's hard not to worry, but I'm trusting God on this issue.  Thank you for your prayers.

Isaiah slept nine hours straight last night.  I know, luckiest. mom. ever.  It was AWESOME!  I don't expect that to be a regular occurance, but I'm hopeful it will be soon!  I also hope it's not because he has a little cold.  He and big sister are sharing a little bug which is causing some congestion/runny nose and a little cough.  It's probably also the same one giving me a sore throat.  Not exciting.  Mira saw me suctioning Isaiah's nose today and asked me to "suck" hers.  Then she kept saying, "mommy, suck".  Nice.  I imagine anyone hearing that conversation would be highly confused.  Apparently suction is too difficult of a word for a two-year-old.

I will work on getting some pics of the big girl bed.  Right now I need to take myself and my sore throat to bed.

Yea for Mira! Isn't it nice to accomplish another motherhood task? I'll be praying for your little guy, and I'm glad to hear that even if he has that problem, it can be easily fixed right now. I'm glad your doc caught it.

Wow, G! So many things going on. I'm so glad Mira is doing well with her baby brother. I will definitely be praying for Isaiah's health and for yours. I'm so glad that your doctor noticed this early and that it is treatable. Nonetheless, I'm sure it will be stressful until it is all said and done. Praying for you!

How am I just now reading this? :( I am sorry you had to go through that scare with Isaiah. I'm so thankful to hear that the ultrasound was normal. Congrats on his sleep too. Hope he's keeping it up, and I'm glad Mira is doing well in her big girl bed. Such big events going on at your house!
