Observations

What I've noticed so far about being pregnant with numero tres:
  • I'm receiving a lot of compliments about how young I look. When not with my two kiddos, I'm often asked if this is my first. Most are shocked to learn it's my third and then reply that I don't look old enough to have three. When they find out my age, they're even more shocked. Who knew I looked so young??
  • EVERYONE has an opinion.  And the opinion is three is a lot harder than two. Thanks a lot people.  VERY encouraging. And today while in Target and it was past nap time and Mira was throwing a huge fit, a kind woman thought it would behove me to know that after my third child is born, I should not, for any reason, take all three to the store at the same time. Apparently getting a babysitter or waiting till dad is home is the best option. And we are NEVER anywhere past naptime, but today was an exception because I needed to pick up Isaiah's antibiotic.  Which leads perfectly to my next point...
I've been debating for months...years perhaps?...as to whether to switch pediatricians.  We chose our pediatrician because she was my doctor as a teenager, seemed nice, and I never had any problems with her.  However, since the day Mira was born we haven't always seen eye-to-eye. But lacking a medical degree as I do, it was difficult to know if our doc was hypervigilant or just being a good doctor.  So, we kept seeing her.  Once I knew I was expecting again I decided it would be a good time to switch.  Mostly because a lot of docs aren't taking new patients unless it's a newborn (and then are willing to see the older siblings too). I received a referral from about 90% of my friends who see a certain pediatrician. It was my plan to switch to him until I informed my OB of the switch and she had an opinion about him which I wasn't overly fond of. She recommended "the perfect pediatrician" according to her (and I tend to trust her opinion), so I decided to give him a chance since he happens to be taking new patients now and I don't have to wait until the baby is born (halleluah! Because who wants to meet a doc for the first time just after giving birth?? And most docs don't do a "meet and greet" unless you're a first time mom. Weird.).

So I took the opportunity to take Isaiah to the doctor since he's had a cold for weeks and randomly threw a fit yesterday for no apparent reason (cue double ear infection).  On the way to the new docs office, I called Abe to tell him we would not be using this new doctor because he's too far away (25 minutes). Since I already had the appointment scheduled, we attended the appointment anyway.

And then I met our new doctor.  Cue angels singing.  He's amazing. A-MAZING. I learned more in the one appointment with him than I ever have with our last pediatrician.  He explained the inner ear, with pictures, and how kids get ear infections. He also said exzema (which Isaiah has) and allergies go hand-in-hand, which is most likely where Isaiah got the runny nose in the first place, which then led to the ear infections. Instead of just treating the symptoms (exzema) like our last pediatrician, he recommended giving some allergy meds for a couple of weeks and then watching yearly for the typical allergy symptoms so they can be treated.

Informative...yes.  Will we be returning?...Yes!!  He was very personable, asked lots of questions, and really seemed to care.  Halleluah.

Yay! I'm so glad you like your new doctor. I know that's been a bit stressful. As for you looking young - too young to have 3 children - I think that's something you'll hear for the rest of your life :). Next it will be - but you look too young to have children in middle school....and so on.

Never be afraid to switch. If it doesn't feel right, it isn't right. Glad you followed through with the appt and love the new doc.
