Ugh, ugh, ugh. As mentioned in my previous post (go and read it first, or this one will not make sense at all...seriously...go...), I dropped off a DVD to the pediatrician of Mira doing one of her little shivers. I'm not a big fan of that word, maybe I'll call it "getting the chills". Ok, so anyway, I dropped it off on Thursday and didn't hear back from her until today. I know, she called on a Saturday! Isn't she so nice?!? I really do like her a lot. Anyway, I was trying to put Mira down for a nap, so I didn't answer when I heard the phone ring and checked it later when Mira was asleep. The doc said she didn't have a chance to view the video until last night as she didn't get home until late on Thursday night. She said after viewing the video, she is concerned about the "movements" (that word is definitely better than shiver or shudder) and she wants to move forward with Mira seeing a neurologist and have him/her view the video to see if he (I'm pretty sure she said "he" so she must be referring us to a "him") thinks it's a seizure. Ok, so this is my confusion, wouldn't an EEG have picked up abnormal brain activity if she were having seizures? From what I have read (in my limited research) is that a person doesn't need to have a seizure during an EEG for it to register abnormal activity because the brain will still show abnormal brain activity if a person has been having seizures. Ugh. Of course, the doctor was super nice on the message and said, "have a great weekend, and don't worry about this because we'll deal with it on Tuesday [since the office is closed on Monday]". Um, yeah, this is me not worrying. Yeah...right.
But, we really feel like Mira is fine. And we think it's a little odd that the movements only happen when she's eating, and especially when she swallows something that she doesn't like. For example, we gave her a noodle the other night, and she did the "movement" when she tried to swallow it. I gave her some pears last night that I had just made. They were really thick as I had cooked them too long and the juice cooked out, and every time she tried to swallow them she did the "movement". So we really feel like it's more related to eating and nothing neurological, like she's still getting used to all the different foods she is trying. Sigh. Of course we will take her to a neurologist, but it gets hard to know how much to pursue something when we really feel like she is fine. But, needless to say I am still feeling stressed about the whole thing. So, please say some prayers for us that we will feel peaceful about this entire situation.

Gina! I don't know what Mira's shiver looks like, but as I was reading this I can totally picture Silas doing a crazy little shiver too when we give him something to eat that he doesn't like!
I don't know... I'm not a doctor. But, I'm just sayin....We will be thinking about you guys on Tuesday...
Hope to see you this week at my house!
I'll be praying for little Mira & and for you and Abe. I'm sure this has been nervewracking for you. My prayer is that God would surround your family, your heart, and your mind until Tuesday.
I am sure everything is okay with little Mira, but just hearing that something could be wrong makes me tear up a little. The world of motherly love has suddenly made me super sensative. I'll be praying for your family.
We will keep praying for Mira. What a blessing that her EEG is clear. However, I'm with you....what else could it be? Hopefully your doctor is being 'overly cautious'.
That is weird that it only happens when she is eating. I am sure everything will turn out to be fine, and what is really going on will be some random natural thing that kiddos sometimes do. I can't imagine how worried you must be anyway. I will definitely pray for your little girl.
