And the Verdict Is.....

We are having ONE baby! Not multiples! I feel relieved! Not that I wouldn't be excited about twins, but one can't help but think about the extra toll on the body as well as the sleep depravation afterwards. My appointment was a little crazy as it was scheduled for 3:45, I was called back for a weigh in and blood pressure check around 4:15, and then about 4:20 the nurse came out to the waiting room to say Dr. W. had to go deliver a baby.

There were two VERY pregnant women who she told had to stay, and then she looked at my chart and said, "oh, I just realized why you're here. Do you want to stay?" I said I didn't want to wait if it was going to be an hour, and of course, as we all know when it comes to babies, one can never tell exactly how long it will be. So, she told me I could come back tomorrow (Thursday) at 9:30 in the morning. I was satisfied with the morning appointment, so Mira and I were on our way.

About 10 minutes down the road the nurse called to say Dr. W. was back and I could come back in if I wanted. Heck yeah! My appointment was good, she asked if I had any questions, which I didn't, but I told her, "I need to know there's only one". She said, "ok". Then she told me she already diagnosed a set of twins today and therefore I wouldn't be having them too. Whew, a little relieved, I mean, what are the chances?

She did an ultrasound, and it was nice to see one little baby on the screen! I got to see and hear the heartbeat, which is always such a relief. It's funny even though you see a positive pregnancy test, there are still thoughts of, "am I really pregnant?" It was very comforting to see the little he or she on the screen, see the heart beating, and hear the little heartbeat at 150 bpm.
And in case you're wondering what your doc is thinking when she looks in "that" area, I asked her. Yeah, we're cool like that. She said, "it's just a job, my husband thinks I'm crazy, but it's just a body part".
Cool, good to know.

And finally, the part you've all been waiting for.
The belly pic.
Don't get your hopes up that you will see this bare belly again, because you most certainely will not. This, however, was the best shot I could get for tonight, and it shows the belly quite well.
Eight weeks and two days, people. 8 weeks, and 2 days.
January 11, 2010 is officially the due date.

One baby is good! I'm glad everything is going well!!
And I'm thinking that the parent to child ratio will work out nicely, for now!

I just realized you and Mandy Wichert are due at exactly the same time. Exciting!!

P.S. Have you been watching So You Think You Can Dance? Any favorites?

Love the belly! You look awesome! Did you cut your hair or is it just hiding? I think it looks great that length either way.

Hmm... Maybe you do have twins and they are just so twinny, the second one was hiding directly behind it's BFF sibling. Could be. OR maybe you really are just having one but it is GINOURMOUS...thus the large belly.
Maybe....these things are possible....
:)
(let it be known that while I offered these options, I do not wish for either of them to be the case)

Relief yes. At least you have some info that will help quiet the "what ifs". You look great and I'm excited that you have an official due date. I also want to know about the hair. Did you get a hair cut because I love it.
