On the count-down to Cali

12 more days until we go to California. Only 12 more! My brother gets married on July 12th (ahem, finally!), and we leave on the 8th to head to Cali. I really can't wait. We rented a house with my mom and her siblings for one week. ONE WEEK in California...and only a HALF MILE from the beach. I really can't wait. I heart the beach. It's one of my favorite places to be.

I can't think about the things that need to be done before we leave. Like get my already too small bridesmaid dress altered. Eeks. I took it in a few weeks ago and the seamstress asked me to bring it back on the 29th so she'll have a week to work on it and then two days to make alterations as necessary for my growing-by-the-day belly. Yikes. Luckily, it's long enough that she has to take quite a bit off the bottom, so I'm hoping she'll be able to add that in somewhere to make it fit. Yeeeks. It makes me a little nervous, but I think it will work out. It has to, right? Right.

In the meantime, Mira and I will enjoy our new backyard pool.

You know, of the blow-up variety.

As you can see, she has already enjoyed herself immensily. And so has her mommy. But don't count on seeing this preggo belly in a bathing suit pic. The fact that I have to wear a maternity bathing suit is humiliating enough. Abe thinks I should just bust out my old bikini's. Is he insane? And bare this whiter-than-white ginormous belly to the world...and the sun...for full exposure??? Heck. No.

It's like a giant bathtub! I couldn't believe she wanted to get in while it was filling up, but I guess that's probably the best time. She had a blast. I couldn't stand to get in at this point because it was freezing! She, obviously, could not have cared less. Look how she's jiber-jabbering to the water. One-year-olds are so cute!

I didn't even have time to get her bathing suit on her, just stripped down her clothes. Later in the afternoon once she had her suit on and was sitting in the water more, she did not like that her diaper filled up like a balloon! The poor thing could barely walk! So, I just took it off and left her little bathing suit bottoms on. Luckily I didn't see any pee, or poo, for that matter. Trust me, she would have let me know had she gone potty somewhere (like she did on the bathroom rug the other night when Abe was getting her ready for a bath. She pointed to the puddle and said "uhe uhe". Pretty funny. Glad it happened on his watch and not mine.)

Wow, I don't even realize how small she still is until I see her in a diaper. I guess she is just one, but you dress her like a fashionista, so I forget she's still a baby. Oh, and why is it that on this drive to CA, I don't hear about a stop in.....AZ???

Mira looks more like her beautiful mother every day. Gina, your "belly" is a blessing from God. Enjoy!! See you in a couple of weeks. Oh, I need Mira's social security number, please. Love, Aunt Pat
