The Crib is Up!

We set up the crib this weekend...woo hoo! It looks really cute, even though it doesn't have a mattress or bedding yet. Abe is technically a "put it together" genius. Since the crib is 30 years old (literally) we didn't have the instructions. Abe looked at all the pieces and said, "okay, I know how to put it together". I was amazed. I helped, of course, and we got it done in about 45 minutes! Pretty quick from what we've heard from some of our friends. Here is a pic...In other baby news, I had the oh-so-exciting glucose test today. I did really well and didn't eat anything sugary until after the test. For breakfast I had eggs and sausage, and before my appointment, which was at 12:45, I had turkey and cheese, sans bread. I won't find out the results for a couple of days, but I'm not worried about it. I was most anxious about drinking that sugary glucose drink, but I didn't have to drink as much as I thought I would, and having eaten something beforehand I didn't feel sick with all the sugar sitting in my stomach. I had to wait an hour after the drink before they took my blood, but time seemed to go quickly. The doctor did her normal measuring of my belly and taking the baby's heartbeat. It was a few beats faster this time (which the doctor didn't notice, but of course I did). She said it was well within the normal range and most likely could have been a little higher due to all the sugar I just had. It's amazing how much that can affect a fetus! By the way, I really like my doctor. She is only a few years older than I am and pregnant with her second. She's giving birth on Thursday (c-section) but will be back to work in just a few weeks. I think I'll have my next appointment with the on-call doctor, and then after that my doc will be back for business. I'm so grateful! Oh, and I asked if she could tell how the baby was laying based on where she found the heartbeat. She felt my belly and said from the feel of it, it seems like Mira's head is down (good girl!) and her butt is on my right side. I knew I kept feeling her little butt over there! I even told Abe the day before I was pretty sure that was her butt! How cute!
