This is an ode to my husband for his patience and support during the last eight months of watching my belly grow. A small tribute for his large measure of support and patience. Here's one small story that portrays his acts of patience and kindness.
We went to Wal-Mart this morning to get some groceries since they're predicting inclement weather in the area. We figured we would stock up in case the weather turned nasty and we didn't feel like getting out. We took the risk last year by going after the bad weather started and the shelves at Wal-Mart were cleared out. Anyway, my pregnant body moves a little slower these days. I don't really notice it unless I'm walking with him and then I realize I'm lagging behind quite a bit. He's gotten used to my slowness so we "took our time" shopping around the store. This, of course, was after dropping me off at the door since it's freezing cold outside. At the end of our trip I had to stop to catch my breath because for some reason growing a baby makes one out of breath rather easily. My husband never complained but asked if I was okay and if I was sure I wasn't having contractions (those are happening on a regular basis these days, which my doctor said is normal). I told him no contractions, just out of breath which was making me light headed. We finally made it to the check out stand and I had to lean on the cart to continue catching my breath, and my sweet hubby proceeded to rub my lower back where it generally likes to hurt. It was great. Then, I waited inside the store while he went to get the car and he even loaded the car all by himself so I could get in and get warm. What a great man! Then, of course, we had to go to Braum's to get milk (because they have the best milk in the world) and he went inside to get it while I waited in the warm car. It was amazing. I told him when he got back that he is the best husband in the world. He appreciated hearing that (probably since he felt like I was being grouchy last night when I got home from work because I was SO hungry and had a baby pushing on my full bladder. I know, excuses excuses...). Thanks honey for being the best husband and dad-to-be in the world!
