Stinkin' Ice

I fell on the ice today. Praise God it was not a hard fall, and I landed on my knee instead of some other important body part like my belly. Of course, I happened to park in the only icy spot in the entire parking lot at work. I saw that it was icy, but knew I could be careful. I did great getting out of my car, but as I was walking around my car there was a sneaky little ice patch and well, my little shoes just couldn't stay up on it. Luckily no one else was in the parking lot, because I then crawled on my hands and knees to the ice-less pavement which was thank the Lord only about five inches away. I was then able to stand up and walk inside safely. I'm really not kidding when I say it was literally the only icy spot in the entire parking lot...I'm not sure how that happened. Once I regained composure, I took stock of my body...everything in tact...nothing hurts...and little baby is still moving around so she must be okay. Whew, thank you Jesus for protecting us! Abe told me I'm no longer allowed to leave the house. It's amazing how protective he has become since I've been pregnant. Any other winter and he doesn't even think twice about me driving in the snow/ice or driving in heavy snow with me in the car. But this year, he has gotten very anxious when it's snowing hard outside and I'm in the car with him. I asked him once if he would be so anxious if I weren't pregnant and he said no way. Pretty cute. I'm really glad he thinks about it differently, because I definitely do. I'm more protective of what I do (not that I do anything on a regular basis that would be dangerous) and what I eat, so I'm glad Abe thinks about the little life inside of me as well. Don't worry, he was kidding about not letting me leave the house, but he was very un-excited to hear his wife and unborn child had fallen on the ice.

I mentioned previously that our dog, Liberty, is expecting puppies. Abe took her to our vet friend, Rory, this week and Rory did an x-ray on her. They were able to count 8 little puppy spines and Rory said there could be more that they couldn't see. Woo hoo! At least 8 little puppies! We calculated her due date, and she should have the puppies by this Sunday. Wow! Our poor little dog looks and sounds so uncomfortable. I can hear her breathing heavy even when laying down and she keeps trying to make a nest for the puppies. If we leave her outside too long she starts digging holes and then comes to the door with her snout literally covered in dirt. Pretty exciting. She finds anything soft around the house and she pushes it around with her nose to "get it ready" for her babies. Luckily, Abe built her a welping box before the last litter, so we...er, uh Abe just needs to bring it in out of the garage so she has a place to have the pups. Here's hoping she goes into labor soon!
